Source and method
In 2026, National Park Service headquarters moved about 1,500 projects approved for the year to a “low priority” list while work tied to White House priorities, including the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and Freedom 250, went ahead, the Associated Press reported. Officials told AP that almost all of the low-priority projects were expected to go undone.
Project records are from an internal NPS project database and are current as of late August 2026. They carry no dates or cost estimates, and some designations may have changed since.
Park markers use NPS Land Resources Division boundary centroids. Offices, directorates, networks, and trails serve more than one park; each is drawn as a square at the address NPS publishes for it. Offices that share an address share one marker.
